Keyboard shortcuts everyone should know


Using keyboard shortcuts can greatly reduce repetitive strain, help keep you focused and save alot of time. For example, by pressing the Ctrl + C shortcut highlighted text can be copied. The shortcut saves alot of time in highlighting the text, choosing copy from the file menu, and then returning to the keyboard. Fowlloing are the top 10 keyboard shortcuts that wvwryone should know.

1. Ctrl + C / Ctrl + Insert and Ctrl + X
Both Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Insert are used to copy the highlighted text or selected item. On the other hand to cut instead of copy press Ctrl + X.

2. Ctrl + V / Shift + Insert
Both the Ctrl + V and Shift + Insert are used paste the text or object that is in the clipboard.

3. Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y
Pressing Ctrl + Z will Undo any change. This shortcut can also be pressed multiple times to undo multiple changes. Pressing Ctrl + Y will redo the undo.

4. Ctrl + F
Pressing Ctrl + F opens the Find in any program which is used to find text on the current page.

5. Alt + Tab / Ctrl + Tab
Pressing Alt + Tab switches between opened programs moving forward. Adding the Shift key to Alt + Tab or Ctrl + Tab moves backward.
Tip: If you have multiple tabs opened in your browser, press Ctrl + Tab to switch between opened tabs.

6. Ctrl + Backspace and Ctrl + Left /Right arrow
Pressing Ctrl + Backspace will delete a full word instead of a single character.
Holding down the Ctrl key while pressing the left /right arrow key will move the cursor one word left or right at a time instead of one character.
If you want to highlight one word at a time, hold down Ctrl + Shift and then press the left or right arrow key to move one word at a time in that direction while highlighting each word. 

7. Ctrl + S
Pressing Ctrl + S saves the current working file while working on a document or other files in almost every program.  This shortcut key should be frequently used while working on anything important to avoid work loss in case any mishap occurs due to power loss or any kind of error.

8. Ctrl + Home or Ctrl + End
Ctrl + Home moves the cursor to the beginning of the document, whereas pressing Ctrl + End moves the cursor to the end of a document.

9. Ctrl + P
Pressing Ctrl + P opens a print preview of the current page or document being viewed.

10. Page Up, Page Down and Space bar
Pressing page up and page down key move up or down direction one page at a time respectively. While browsing Internet, pressing the space bar also moves the page down while pressing the Shift key + space bar moves up one page at a time.
